La.S.P.I. – Laboratory of History, Politics, Institution – was created in December 2009 within the Department "POLIS" of the University of Eastern Piedmont, thanks to the financial contribution from the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Torino and the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Alessandria. Since 2012 La.S.P.I. is established in the Department of Law and Political, Economic and Social Sciences (DiGSPES).

La.S.P.I. promotes historical and scientific researches with an interdisciplinary approach, with particular attention to the fields of history of political thought, contemporary history, history of political institution and law, science of administration, science of finance, public economy.

The activity of study and research aims at establishing connections between the local reality and the national and international levels, thanks to the contribution and the stimulation provided by scholars and researchers belonging to the University of Eastern Piedmont, Turin, Genoa, Rome "La Sapienza", Naples “Federico II”, Link Campus University (Rome), Sant’Anna School (Pisa) and other research centres in the area of Alessandria, such as the Istituto per la storia della Resistenza e della società contemporanea in provincia di Alessandria (ISRAL).

The research results are presented during scientific congresses, seminars, meetings and other public activities and they are collected into working papers or monographic publications edited by the scholars involved in the research projects.
